According to sources, the shooting occurred when a discussion turned communal and an argument erupted.

The Railway Protection Force constable Chetan Singh killed three passengers and a Senior Officer on a Jaipur-Mumbai train on Monday, July 31. Shortly after the incident, frightening images of it circulated on the internet.

In one such video, the accused, carrying an automatic military weapon, is heard shouting, “Agar Hindustan mei rahna hai aur vote dena hai to Modi aur Yogi ko… If you want to stay in Hindustan, vote for Yogi (chief minister of Uttar Pradesh) and Modi (Prime Minister).”

Two of the four victims have been identified as Abdul Kadir and Asgar Kai, according to an Indian Express story. Another victim’s identification has yet to be determined. According to the report, the shooting occurred when a conversation turned communal and an argument erupted.

Chetan Singh opened fire on Assistant Sub-inspector (ASI) Tikaram Meena inside coach number B-5 at approximately 5 a.m. He then killed Abdul Kadir and an unnamed man in the pantry compartment before heading to the S-6 coach and killing Asgar Kai, a bangle merchant from Jaipur.

The accused constable Chetan Singh is allegedly seen on one of the videos standing close to a severely injured passenger who is bleeding profusely. Other passengers, who appear to be shell-shocked, can also be seen in the footage.

‘Short-tempered Constable’

Earlier, speaking to the media, Inspector General of RPF (Western Railway) Praveen Sinha denied claims that the firing was the result of an altercation. “He lost his cool and shot his Officer.” “Then he killed whoever saw it,” Sinha was reported as saying by NDTV.

Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Tikaram Meena (57) is survived by his wife and his mother, who is 80 years old.

Meanwhile, Western Railways announced compensation for the family of ASI Tikaram Meena: 15 lakhs from Railway Surksha Kalyan Nidhi, 20,000 for funeral expenses, 15 lakhs as death-cum-retirement gratuity, and 65,000 from the general insurance program.
